Pope Francis Condemns Israeli Forces for Killings in Gaza Church Compound

The callous murder of Israeli citizens in the Gaza church compound has drawn severe condemnation from Pope Francis. The unfortunate episode in which two Palestinian Christian ladies seeking safety within a church complex were assassinated by the Israeli military was decried by the Pope, expressing his distress. He claimed that “acts of terrorism” are being used in Gaza by Israel.

Pope Francis said, “I continue to receive extremely grave and painful news from Gaza,” during his weekly prayers. Attacks with guns and bombs are directed at unarmed individuals. This occurred even within the Holy Family Parish Complex, which is home to families, kids, the ill, and the disabled rather than terrorists.”

In the event, an Israeli sniper shot and killed Nahida Khalil Anton and her daughter Thamar as they were on their way to a convent inside the Holy Family Parish Complex.

Patriarchate statements claim that seven more people suffered injuries while attempting to protect and save others. According to the statement, “seven other individuals were wounded by gunfire as they tried to save others.”

Pope Francis emphasized the need for a peaceful resolution and demanded that the world community step in to put a stop to the violence. The Pope’s forceful remarks highlight how urgent it is to solve Gaza’s humanitarian catastrophe and strive toward a fair and long-lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict.

The terrible event highlights the difficulties innocent bystanders confront and the significance of international efforts to facilitate talks and a ceasefire to establish long-lasting peace in the area.
